WELCOME TO OUR SITE! The Charretterie (or Old Wagon Shed) is a beautiful old converted farm building in a peaceful rural location, just 4 miles from the sea, near the pretty seaside resort of Veules-les-Roses.
The Charretterie, seen from the village pond. Houdetot is a pretty village 7 km from the sea. Our farmhouse is 400 years old and monks were supposed to have lived there and tended the church which is at the end of the field in front. The Charretterie is not overlooked and has its own private garden facing south. All of the rooms look out over the field towards the church.
The upper story, which housed a granary, is now a two-bedroom apartment, with spacious sitting/dining room (satellite TV and DVD with good DVD library), compact modern open-plan kitchen (with dishwasher, microwave, and good oven), two good-sized bedrooms (both with double beds and one with a single as well), bathroom (with washing mach-ine), separate wc and corridor. Beneath there is a table-tennis table and storage for wood, garden furniture and barbecue etc.
Ten minutes away is the very pretty seaside resort of Veules-les-Roses, with a good beach, cafés and restaurants and amenities for children. Here is the beach early in the morning looking east. The resort offers sailing lessons, windsurfing and tennis. There are good shops at St Valéry (15 mins) and Luneray (15 mins), while Dieppe (30 mins) has a wide variety of shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. There ar good cliff walks and cycle itineraries for those wanting exercise.
